The defining challenge

Fluid variety
Hydraulic, lubricating, turbine and fire-retardant fluids — each with its own control limits.

The power industry perhaps offers the largest variety of oils: from hydraulic and lubrication systems, to turbine oils, and FRF for turbine control systems. A typical plant also has a large number of outdoor installations, which need large particulate contamination and moisture removal at the same time.

The governing system is the critical application. Fire-resistant fluid must be controlled for contamination (NAS), moisture (ppm) and acid number (TAN, mg KOH/g), and the Fluent range gives solutions to all application points.

Heavy mobile equipment operates on hydraulic and transmission oils requiring maintenance at the necessary NAS level.

Stationary equipment such as wagon tipplers and bucket elevators, together with mobile wheel loaders and dumpers, all operating on hydraulic oil.

Turbine and governing system

The turbine section comprises turbine lubricating oils, the governing system or TDBFP operating on fire-resistant fluid, and hydraulic oils. Lubricating oils are cleaned continuously in bypass with NAS level and moisture control. Fire-resistant fluid must be controlled for contamination (NAS), moisture (ppm) and acid number (TAN, mg KOH/g).
