GEAR / LUBE OIL
Power Transmission / speed reduction is one of the major process requirement, which is carried out with gear box. There are various types of gear mechanism used for every specific requirement. What is common in all is “OIL”. Primary function of oil is to reduce friction between gears. Gear oil selected and designed for the requirement of heavy load and friction between gears.

Background of Development:
Second most important component in gear system is “bearing”. Understanding gear box maintenance / failure most of the time, means ‘bearing failure’. This is just because clearance between gears is very high comparing to the clearance in bearings. The oil used for gear box is high viscosity and boundary layer thickness is very high. Tiny contaminations, less than this boundary layer thickness, do impact but little for gear surfaces and provide wear of gears.
But these ‘tiny contaminants’ for gears becomes “BIG” for bearing. And results is heavy friction and ultimately FAILURE of bearings, resulting in maintenance of Gear box.
Gear box failure means directly DOWN TIME for the equipment & for the plant.

A key solution for all above Service/ Maintenance issue is to maintain OIL QUALITY to desired NAS and to maintain this NAS during Working period.
Presenting VATS make Fluent G series for moderate viscosity oil up to 320 cst and Fluent XG series for high viscosity even up to 1000 cst oil. Depending on the criticality of application you can choose NAS 6, ISO 15/12 and NAS 8, ISO 17/14.
EFFECT OF PRESENT SYSTEM MOISTURE:
Generally gear oils are designed with moisture release agents. There are conventional methods Moisture gets separated at bottom of the tank with one working and on standby tank.
But in rare case oil convert to emulsion in that case only option is to replace or get it treated out.
