Background of Development:
Background: Fire Retardant Fluid (Phosphate Ester based) is used for variety of critical application where possibility fire hazard due to oil leakage.
FRF is very much susceptible to moisture as it is very much hygroscopic in nature. As moisture content FRF increases, it results into increase in Total Acid Number (TAN) in oil. TAN is measured in mg KOH per gram of oil.
It is recommended to have a FRF with low TAN i.e. less than 0.1 mg KOH/gram. With continuous use of FRF without any TAN removal TAN rises to moe than 1.0 sometimes in worst cost to 2.0 or so.
Higher TAN value in FRF gives birth to many issues in performance like Valve malfunction, corrosion, Varnish addition etc. And ultimately oil needs replacement. This oil replacement has multi-fold impact first is COST which is extremely high and second is disposal hassle
Vats offers a higher end technology for reduction of Total Acid Number i.e. acidity from polar fluid like Fire Retardant Fluid (Phosphate Ester based) up to 68 cst.
VATS usesIon Exchange Resin Technology, which Replace H+ ion from FRF and reacted with OH- ion from resin and results in removal of acidity of oil.
During TAN reduction process moisture is generated and this added moisture can be reduced by using VAST’HVDH.
